  1. USA might call itself a country, but it perfectly fits the description of an empire. Like all empires, they have a cycle from birth to death. On average, an empire lasts around 200-250 years before it collapses. Now USA is in the last stage an empire faces before they collapse or are reborn. There's been empires that have saved itself, the Roman Empire managed to save itself from near total collapse at least 3 different times. The Corona virus I believe is just a trigger, a date to mark when the crisis began in USA and the other countries. The virus is not a very deadly biological
  2. I've seen now several different variations for Warsong, Stormwind, Dwarves, Dalaran and Lordaeron to quickly take the kingdom of Gilneas. They all have strategies for taking it within 10 minutes. There's multiple games where I've seen factions meet each other in Gilneas racing to be the one getting the killing blow on Darius Crowley. It can get a little awkward meeting another player there. Simply put, after years of remaining unchanged people have figured out the perfect strategies for killing Darius Crowley. I figured out a few weeks ago how you could do it with Dwarves by only u
  3. Stormwind & Dwarves vs Fel Horde balance changed a lot in the last ~4 months. I'll name the biggest factors. 1. Upkeep system. You get 10% gold income reduction when you reach 100 food. Since Stormwind & Dwarves are two players they can have 198 units under their control without suffering any upkeep penalty on their gold income. In contrast, Fel Horde surpasses 100 units within just 1-2 minutes of the game due to the Demon Gates spawning in more units. This means that Fel Horde is constantly playing with 10-25% less gold income than what he used to have. The penalty equates
  4. Turns out that despite this thread not having a single reply and few voters, it's a thread that people have been reading more than once. Thank you for liking and reading my view of balance on Azeroth Wars. I'd like to add another perspective to the two different approaches to balance and that is the community. What kind of balance will help grow the Azeroth Wars community? If you go with Random balance which allows you to open up the lore sandbox and be a lot more creative, what kind of players do this attract? The roleplayers of course. There's been maps an
  5. Add Darude Sandstorm in Kalimdor that deals 5 DPS for 1 minute. Add Malaria bugs in Outland that have 2% chance to kill a random non-hero player controlled unit. Add random Plague events in Eastern Kingdom that can infect a populated area and turn them into zombies. Add Darude Snowstorms on Northrend that removes vision, including for the Lich King.
  6. @Icebreaker 1. What's the reasoning behind removing Murmur? 2. What do you think about keeping Murmur but remove the requirement to kill him to research Tiers? 3. What do you think about the balance of having access to two types of elites versus only one type against Stormwind & Dwarves? If I understood correctly, you suggest to only have access to tier 1 and half of tier 2 versus Stormwind & Dwarves and you cannot research tier 3 until they're defeated.
  7. @Talinn You know that the thing that's changed the most back and forth is the stats on Varian Wrynn. It's really difficult to find a balance on his health and damage. If he's got too little health, then it's too easy for Fel Horde to aim him down. Better to add a marketplace in Stormwind where Potion of Invulnerability and Runed Bracer are available if you believe you need more protection. If you add this marketplace, then you can reduce Varians health down a bit and tell the pros to use the shop if they need more protection against hero-aiming. I don't think it's overpowered, if i
  8. Four documents with ideas, bugs, balance, suggestions for the faction Dwarves. I began writing some of it a while ago and updated them today. I updated them all today and wrote them so that they all fit together. Dwarf Feedback 1.06d Contains balance, bugs, Hall of explorer suggestions and a little more. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ckOcFlvvAaG6VPneZS6q4RPLyZxgBfTh1AUPf6htKAQ/edit?usp=sharing Dwarf Quest 1.06d Contains the suggestion of 5 different quests. There's currently only 1 and that's to liberate Gnomeregan. https://docs.google.com/docu
  9. In this thread I'll explain the two different approaches of balance and what the benefits are of both options. Read it before casting your vote. Random balance is when your chance of winning is random. Gambling, dice-roll, casinos all have a chaotic balance in that it's fair to all players, but there's very little the player can do to affect the results. It's chaotic. Orderly balance is when the chance of winning is based on the players actions. Competitive games like Chess, Football, Counter-Strike leaves almost nothing to random chance and it's all about your skills in the game.
  10. The flaw with this concept is that the entire map is already under someone's control 30 minutes into the game. Slowly growing stronger is not likely to happen when your second chance spawning into reality automatically attacks a stronger team. Here's a suggestion that I got. What if the second chances were small allies to winning factions? For example, if Night Elves win on Kalimdor the Horde players can choose to become Draenei on Azuremyst Isle and be supportive allies to them. If Horde wins against Night Elves, they can choose to be Goblin allies controlling Ratchet, Everlook, Gadgetzan,
  11. @TheVinylRaider You believe that second chance as a "solo faction" option for players who lost the game is an imbalance in the core game design? That how it's been set up, it cannot ever be something balanced? Second chance solo factions must be made strong enough to stand on their own which makes them naturally stronger than a starting faction. How does a second chance faction get a saying in the global war if they are not powerful? By the time second chances become available, the entire map have already been conquered by someone, so you can't get a peaceful start. All second c
  12. @Talinn It's true that if you spread the actions of units out then the lag is reduced. The complaint of large scale battles is focused on the limitations of a players attention, max 12 selected units and the lag caused by having hundreds units in one place fighting. I agree that the max unit cap should be lowered. However, I remain uncertain about the solo factions, should the max unit limit be based upon which faction you play? So a North Alliance faction could have a limit of 200, a South Alliance faction a limit of 250 and a solo faction like Fel Horde be limited to 300. You talked
  13. Here is the original post with the poll: Azeroth Wars lategame have not remained the same over the past 10 years. Here's a few things that have changed the lategame over the past year: 1. Allying is now restricted. 2. Gold income inflation. 3. Available second chances with large starting armies. 4. More powerful items (and where to find them). 5. Main faction buildings made very durable. 6. Solopaths and leaving ally system. All of this and more have changed lategame over the years. On top of the lategame changing, more players are al

  15. Idea is good, most of it is alright and a natural development of smaller reward ideas accumulating over time. The item Scepter of the Queen should be made into a reward after you've defeated one of the Kalimdor teams. I think it should be put into this list since it kind of already requires you to defeat Horde or Night Elves. This will obviously need a lot of feedback and testing as the completely new stuff looks like dicerolled chaos rather than intelligent design.
